The School Day

The school day will be decided after consultation with parents however two options are featured below:

Option 1

08.00 – 08.30 Breakfast Club (optional)
08.30 – 08.40 Registration
08.40 – 09.45 Session 1
09.45 – 10.45 Session 2
10.45 – 11.05 Break
11.05 – 12.10 Session 3
12.10 – 13.10 Session 4
13.10 – 14.20 Lunch / Clubs
14.20 – 14.30 Registration
14.30 – 15.30 Session 5
15.35 – 16.35 Session 6 (enrichment period)
16.35 – 17.35 Session 7
(optional; initially for two days per week)

Option 2
(morning as per Option 1)

13.10 – 14.00 Lunch/Clubs
14.00 – 14.10 Registration
14.10 – 15.10 Session 5
15.15 – 16.15 Session 6 (enrichment period)

Session 6 is intended to be compulsory and used for enrichment in order to support and extend learning.

For example, it may be used for:

  • form and tutor periods
  • year-group assemblies
  • extra ICT support at Key Stage 3 (years 7, 8 & 9) and Key Stage 4 (years 10 & 11)
  • ICT GCSE
  • additional language practical sessions for GCSE
  • separate sciences (Biology, Physics, Chemistry) for GCSE
  • minority subjects such as Latin and Mandarin

Session 7 will initially be used for extra-curricular activities two afternoons a week, such as:

  • sports practices
  • music ensembles
  • school newspaper
  • drama
  • sports leadership
  • art club
  • young engineers club

Session 7 will be an optional session, however we strongly recommend that pupils participate in order to benefit from the enjoyment these activities bring.
